Chapel Hill, N.C.
Tar Heels national player of the year Tyler Hansbrough broke the teams career scoring record after surpassing Ford. Ford set the record back in nineteen seventy eight with two thousand two hundred and ninety points and on Thursday night presented Hansbrough with the game ball after an official time out. The Tar Heels were playing against Evansville and former Kennedy star Kaylon Williams on Thursday night in North Carolina. Hansbrough who was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at six foot-nine inches tall and weighing two hundred and fifty pounds is dominating with his numbers. During the two thousand five-six season and two thousand six-seven season Hansbrough averages eighteen points per game. The last two seasons he has averaged twenty-two points per game. Last season Hansbrough ended with a total of eight hundred and eighty two points. He is starting off his senior season with one hundred and fifty nine points, but he has also only played in seven out of the eleven games. Hansbrough suffered from a preseason shin injury that kept him out for the first four games. Now he is back on track and will keep adding to the record of most points scored by North Carolina Tar Heel. Fans and non fans around the country will continue to watch as he dominates the floor and goes down as one of the best to ever play the game.
ISU- "Rhoads"
The thirty first head coach for the Iowa State Cyclones was selected this Saturday December twentieth, two thousand eight. Former Auburn and Pittsburgh defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads was introduced to ISU football team once again. Rhoads at one point was an assistant head coach for the cyclones and will now run the team. Described as a “Dream Job” to Rhoads, as he will only be coaching only a few miles away from Ankeny, Iowa. This is where he grew up and his father is a member of the High School Football Coaches Hall of fame in this area. Paul will be the second coach in the last three years to become a cyclone. After former head coach Chizik failed to help the football program by providing them with a five and nineteen record in the last two seasons. Along to go with that a ten game losing streak, which ties the second longest of all time.
"It's time to roll up our sleeves, put on our hard hats and go to work together," Rhoads said. "We will be smart. We'll be physical for 60 minutes and we will hit you coming off the bus. We will be a passionate football team that will bring pride back to the Cyclone nation."
At Auburn, Rhoads’ defense ranked twenty second nationally after allowing only eighteen points per and only one hundred and seventy-nine yards per game. His last season in Pittsburgh, they were ranked fifth in total defense and third in passing defense. Rhoads agreed to a five year contract, consisting of five point seven five million dollars with incentives to increase the amount.

NFL....Pro Bowl
The big news in the NFL this week has to do with the Pro Bowl selections. Better yet the focus was on the Manning brothers that have been selected as starters in the Pro Bowl. (Eli Manning-New York Giants, Peyton Manning-Indianapolis Colts=brothers). This is the first time in NFL history that brother quarterbacks have been nominated to go face to face against one another in the All-Star game. Talking about making history, forty-four year old kicker John Carney the oldest player was selected out of New York Giants to play in this Pro Bowl. If you don’t know what the Pro Bowl is well, it is an all-star game between the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference. Players around the league are picked to play in this game by a vote. Basically the top players from each team are awarded with this chance to play in this game. Seven players have been selected from the New York Jets, which leads the NFL and is also the most in the team’s forty nine year history. These players consist of quarterback Brett Favre, Thomas Jones, Alan Faneca, and Nick Mangold for offensive players. The defensive players consist of Kris Jenkins, Darrell Revis, and also kick returner Leon Washington. Following the Jets, the second most players selected was five from the Baltimore Ravens. On the down side of things, there are four teams that will be sending zero pro bowlers: Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the St. Louis Rams. Traditionally the Pro Bowl is played every year in the tropical state of Hawaii and will fall on the date on February 8th for the 2009 all-star game.
Other big news around the NFL deals the the Detroit lions, which fail to win a game in the two thousand nine season. With only one game left of the season the Lions become the first team in NFL history to go zero and fifteen, so far...

BCS
The most featured topic with NCAA sports this time of the year deals with the decision making of which team is going to which bowl. In college football the teams that are given the opportunity to play in the National championship Game are chosen by the BCS. Not like in other sports, in college football the rankings are selected through a variety of polls and computer analysis. In other sports the rankings are based off the record that the team holds for that season. Through these polls and computer methods they determine which two teams are going to put on the best show. Some of the basics that are involved with the polls are the teams athleticism based on player statistics on the field. Another thing that is a result in the BCS standings is the difficulty of the teams’ schedule, which they've played, how much the win by, or simply just what division the team belongs to. The BCS also has four other games that they select besides the National Championship Game. Include in these are the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, Allstate Sugar Bowl, FedEx Orange Bowl, and the Rose Bowl. There are a total of thirty four different bowl games that occur starting December twentieth two thousand eight. All of the bowls were decided last Sunday, December seventh and sixty eight teams were honored to play. These bowls with continue throughout until the end of the month and then into the beginning of the New Year. The last and final game of the season will be played on January eighth. This will be a hard fought battle between the Florida Gators and the Oklahoma Sooners for the FEDEX National Title. According to the BCS poll Oklahoma is ranked number one in the country and Florida is ranked number two.

My BLog
The topics of interest that I have in mind deal with sports and just about anything that pertains to them. Basically I will focus on the big issues that are involved in the sports world. This Information will be produced based on the time of year, which will determine the featured sport. In winter the beginning of college basketball and the end of the football seasons will appear. I specify college basketball because I don’t find the NBA very interesting as topic of discussion. With football I will focus on both the NFL and college football considering the Super Bowl is in the near future. College football will be a part of the transition into the New Year of 2009. Once we hit the spring months then baseball will start appearing in my posts. I will continue throughout my posts talking about each sport based on what is happening in them, anything from recruiting to game day. Most of my posts will involve college sports because it appeals more to me and my interest level. The idea that makes college sports more interesting is the tempo of the game that is being played. Other things that will be talked about are schedules, big match-ups, highlights, and much more.
